Helena McCarthy

Helena is a Sydney-based writer, researcher and curator with a keen interest in contemporary Indigenous art. She has a first class BA Honours degree in Art History from Sydney University and carried out field work on Top End art in North East Arnhem Land in early 2006.

Helena was highly active within student life as an undergraduate and understands the cultural status of the Union to the university experience.

Helena has worked within the Sydney commercial gallery field and at major public institutions, notably the Museum of Contemporary Art (Sydney) working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art on the 2008 major exhibition and publication “They Are Meditating: Bark Paintings from the Arnott’s Collection.
