BrainAid - raising funds for the Tony Lucas Research Grant.
The Tony Lucas Research Grant is a medical research grant to be established within the Cure For Life Foundation. The Cure For Life Foundation is the largest active fundraiser for brain tumour research and awareness in Australia. The Tony Lucas Research Grant will be awarded to selected medical research projects within the work of the Cure For Life Foundation to help find a cure for brain cancer.
Brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in children aged 0-14 years and the leading cause of cancer death in males aged 0-44 years. Despite this brain cancer is the most under-funded and understudied of all cancers.
The Research Grant was founded by Bec Lucas, who lost her father to brain cancer in 2011. She has been actively fundraising for the Grant, with the major event being the Beach Walk for Brain Cancer.
Little May, Conics and Louis London have all generously agreed to play to raise money and awareness for the cause.
Little May is a Sydney based folk collaboration between Liz Drummond, Hannah Field & Annie Hamilton. The girls recently played at Johns Fest and are influenced by Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes.
Conics are an explosive five-piece dance-punk band from Sydney.Having shared the stage with the likes of Gold Fields, Rufus, Millions, Elizabeth Rose, Convaire, Oscar & Martin and Flume in 2011, Conics are set to released their debut EP in mid-2012.
Louis London burst onto the Sydney music scene in 2010 and has been winning over audiences with their big sound and melodic vocals ever since. This energetic live act has headlined The Gaelic and packed out World Bar, Spectrum, Oxford Art Factory Gallery Bar and the Village, while supporting the likes of The Bag Raiders, Hunting Grounds, Trial Kennedy, Tom Ugly and Rufus. The boys are releasing their debut EP later this month.
