Verge Festival
Created from 100 environmentally-responsible timber pallets by Honours in Architecture candidate HY William Chan, 'Palette of Urban Green' explores the issue of sustainable urbanisation and juxtaposes the ever-changing relationship between the built and natural environment. Five cascading architectural towers produce an array of mesmerising light and shadow. The energy-efficient LEDs react to surrounding movement using high-frequency sensors. Following the Verge Festival, the building materials and technologies will be upcycled or reused.
Described as a Vivid Sydney highlight by the light festival director, 'Palette of Urban Green' was commissioned by Destination NSW for Vivid Sydney Lights On! 2012 and is made possible by the USU Kick Start Grant.
